Now in its 22nd year, the 12 Days of Christmas celebration at the Carolina Inn has become a local holiday tradition. Parents are bringing their kids to the events they recall as children and grandparents delight to see the happiness this endearing event offers throughout the month of December.
Seasonal decorations are done with artistry, portraying visual delights created with the classic “12 Days of Christmas” song in mind. In addition to being a fun place to grab a drink or hot cocoa by the roaring fires, you can stroll through the Open Air Holiday Market and do a bit of shopping.
The Triangle Youth Ballet performed during the Sugarplum Fairy Tea, aimed at children under 12, to sold-out audiences at the inn. The ballet troupe, which has been performing at the inn for more than 10 years, is celebrating its 25th anniversary season performing the Nutcracker ballet to Tchaikovsky’s score.
Beautiful, high school-age dancers from the ballet school performed in full costume during the tea before inviting the children to dance with them. Children ate scones and cookies offered with tiny sandwiches and an assortment of teas or lemonade served at formal dining tables.
The Carolina Inn also offers a Holiday Tea every day through Jan. 5. The inn also hosts many other seasonal events through Dec. 25, such as cookie decorating and a brunch with Santa, that require reservations. For more information, visit the carolinainn.com or call 919-933-2001.
