Hundreds of peaceful protestors in Carrboro joined the over 7 million people in 2,500 locations across the country on Saturday in what may be labeled the largest demonstration in history.
“This, without question, will be the single biggest day of protest in American history,” said Lisa Gilbert, co-president of Public Citizen, which was helping organize the rallies. “Since we last did this, people have become far more aware of what is going wrong with this administration,” she told USA Today.
Republicans contended the protests were “hate America” rallies and claimed they’re prolonging the federal government shutdown. According to nationwide reports there were no arrests or violent incidents reported at any of the protests.
