Men’s Basketball Notebook: Chapel Hill Wins Six Out of Seven

As 2025 moved into 2026, local high school men’s basketball teams from Chapel Hill, East Chapel Hill, and Carrboro have been quite busy. All three programs played in holiday tournaments between Christmas and New Year’s Day, while re-igniting their respective conference schedules the first full week of January.


Women’s Basketball Notebook – Tigers Heating Up As New Year Arrives

Chapel Hill’s women’s basketball team challenged itself against some of the best competition in the state of North Carolina over the holiday break, which should help the 9-4 Tigers as they get into Tobacco Road Conference play. The Tigers subsequently blew out local rival East Chapel Hill on the evening of January 6 to open league play.


Wilson Dominates In 79-66 Win Over Seminoles

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. —Caleb Wilson dominated with another double-double as 12th-ranked North Carolina pulled away from Florida State for a 79-66 win in the ACC opener for both teams on Tuesday night in the Smith Center.

Tar Heels Roll Past ECU, 99-51

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. —Caleb Wilson and Henri Veesaar both had double-doubles once again as 12th-ranked North Carolina won its sixth game in a row, rolling past East Carolina, 99-51, on Monday night in the Smith Center.




Veesaar & Wilson Lead 81-61 Win Over Hoyas

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.—Henri Veesaar and Caleb Wilson led the way with double-doubles as 16th-ranked North Carolina pulled away from Georgetown, 81-61, on Sunday afternoon in the Smith Center. The dynamic forward duo combined for 38 points and 29 rebounds in the victory, shooting 13 for 23 collectively.




Veesaar & Wilson Spark 85-70 Win Over St. Bonaventure

FORT MYERS, FLA.—Henri Veesaar and Caleb Wilson both dominated with double-doubles as No. 16 North Carolina pulled away in the second half and overpowered St. Bonaventure, 85-70, on Tuesday evening in the Fort Myers Tip-Off at the Suncoast Credit Union Arena.


UNC Lets Duke Pull Away Late on Senior Day 32-25

UNC Women’s Tennis Star Brantmeier Claims NCAA Singles Title

ORLANDO, Fla.  –Reese Brantmeier from the University of North Carolina women’s tennis program claimed the 2025 NCAA Division I Women’s Singles National Title Sunday afternoon. Brantmeier joins Jamie Loeb as the second Tar Heel in program history to win the NCAA Singles National Championship. 


Duke Slips Past Carolina On Senior Day, 32-25

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – One or two plays usually decide the outcome of rivalry games, and that was the case Saturday afternoon at Kenan Stadium as the Duke Blue Devils made a few more plays to slip past North Carolina, 32-25.


UNC Men’s Soccer Advances in NCAA Championships on Penalty Kicks, 6-5

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The University of North Carolina men’s soccer team closed out a thriller by advancing on penalties, 6-5, against North Florida in the NCAA Championship first round on Thursday night at Dorrance Field. Both sides converted their first five penalties, but UNC’s Gabriel Bracken Serra went wide in round six before Andrew Cordes saved UNF’s sixth attempt. Luis Vera stepped up and buried the seventh penalty and UNF hit the bar to give UNC the victory.







Tar Heels Down Radford, 89-74

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.—Luka Bogavac led four double-figure scorers with 19 points and Caleb Wilson had his first career double-double as No. 18 North Carolina overcame an off-shooting night and beat Radford, 89-74, on Tuesday night in the Smith Center.




Dominant Second Half Leads Tar Heels By Kansas, 87-74

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.—Caleb Wilson, Henri Veesaar and Seth Trimble led the way as No. 25 North Carolina shot a blistering 66.7 percent in the second half to roar from behind and pull away from 19th-ranked Kansas, 87-74, on Friday night in the Smith Center.






Tar Heels Blast Rams, 95-53

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.—Freshman Caleb Wilson led the way with a double-double as North Carolina rolled past Winston-Salem State, 95-53, in a preseason game in the Smith Center on Wednesday night.
