OBITUARIES

Cynthia Field Bowen, aged 63, passed away on October 28, 2023, at her home in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Cynthia was born on December 11, 1959, in Connersville, Indiana, the second of Jim and Sheryll Field’s four children. Cynthia married Ed Bowen in 1982 in Indiana’s Shakamak State Park.

Cynthia loved plants and the outdoors, cooking, and spending time with her friends and family. She worked for many charities and focused on ending hunger and improving child nutrition. She was skilled at bringing people together to solve problems. She battled a brain tumor for nine years, through five surgeries, five courses of radiation, and nineteen total months of chemotherapy. She remained positive and loving in the face of adversity. She was an extremely kind and caring person and will be greatly missed.

Cynthia is survived by her husband, Ed Bowen of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, two brothers, James D. Field and Robert Field, of Connersville, Indiana; and one sister, Rebecca (Married to Randy) Guire of Connersville, Indiana.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at the Chapel Hill Friends Meeting House, 531 Raleigh Rd, Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Tribute gifts can be made to the Cora Food Pantry at https://www.corafoodpantry.org/
