Peace Walk & MLK Reading

April 7 @ 10:00 am

The clergy of Chapel Hill invite the surrounding community to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr’s “Letter from a Birmingham Jail” with a peace walk and a special reading of excerpts from King’s letter. The event will take place on Friday, April 7 (Good Friday), beginning at St. Paul AME Church in Chapel Hill (101 N. Merritt Mill Rd.) at 10:00am. Participants will walk 0.7 miles from St. Paul to University Baptist Church (100 S. Columbia St.). Once all have arrived at University Baptist, a reading of King’s words will take place in the sanctuary.

All are welcome to join in this special commemoration. Participants may park in the municipal lot across the street from St. Paul, or in the church lot at University Baptist, which can be accessed by either W. Franklin or S. Columbia Streets.
