OBITUARIES

Francis J. Kirrane (Frank) died peacefully on January 8, 2022 at the age of 89. Frank was the oldest son of Irish parents and was raised in Jamaica Plain, Boston. He attended Wentworth Institute of Technology, receiving a drafting certificate. Then he worked his way through college earning an engineering degree from Northeastern University. He entered the newly emerging field of nuclear medicine in the 1950s and enjoyed a successful career. He raised his family in Sudbury, Massachusetts. In retirement, he and his wife Eileen travelled to Italy, Costa Rica, Spain, Portugal and Ireland and spent 20 years in Merrimac, Massachusetts restoring a beautiful historic home together. They always enjoyed the beauty of the New England and Carolina coasts. Frank spent his final years in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

He is predeceased by his younger brother and sister, Edward Kirrane and Kathleen Casey. He leaves his wife of 58 years, Eileen Hayden Kirrane, and his daughters and sons-in-law, Julie Kirrane and David Searls, of Belmont, Massachusetts, and Ellen Kirrane and Thierry Gandelheid, of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He always wanted to live long enough to see his grandchildren, who he loved dearly, grow into adulthood. He leaves six wonderful teens and young adults behind: Owen, Ned and Lila Searls and Theo, Louis, and Camille Gandelheid.
