Orange County Board of Commissioners Meeting

The commissioners have concluded their business for the fiscal year ending June 30 and will take July and August off. However, they are accepting applications from county residents who live in District 1 to fill the vacancy created when Commissioner Mark Dorosin leaves the state for a new job in July. Application deadline is 5 p.m. on July 19. Check the county’s website, co.orange.nc.us, for the application form, expected to be posted late June, or contact Laura Jensen, clerk of the board of commissioners, at ljensen@orangeountync.gov, or 919-245-2130.


Carrboro Town Council Meeting

Town council has finished its meetings for the fiscal year and will resume work in September.


Chapel Hill Town Council Meeting

Chapel Hill’s town council squeezed in an extra meeting to be held Monday, instead of its typical midweek session. At the June 28 meeting, council will vote on a special use permit for the rezoning of University Place to make way for redevelopment, and vote on the proposed Aura project at MLK Jr. Boulevard and Estes Drive.
