For an afternoon last Saturday, the concrete chunk of 140 W. Franklin St. turned from a plaza encircled by shops and restaurants into colorful corners showcasing local artistic talent.

Festifall, organized by Chapel Hill Community Arts & Culture, is one of three art markets spread throughout October. Saturday saw the first interaction for this season, with over 20 vendors hailing from across the state. The event also features a bevy of performers, including acoustic duos, UNC dance troupes and poetry presenters.

The next Festifall events are scheduled for Oct. 15 and Oct. 22 from 1-6 p.m. at 140 W. Franklin St.
