The Chapel Hill Police Department is increasing patrols in the Meadowmont Lane and Sprunt Street areas. The Department is investigating two reports of a man inappropriately touching women on the Meadowmont Trail near Sprunt Street.

The first incident is reported to have occurred Wednesday at 9:45 am. The second incident was reported Monday at 8:13 am. No injuries were reported in either case.

The suspect in both incidents is described as a man approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall with a slim build. He wears dark sweatpants, a dark hoodie, and a blue surgical-style face mask.

Inappropriate touching is defined as “touching that is sexual in nature. This is unsolicited or unwanted touching that involves a person’s genitals, buttocks or private parts. Evidence is less concrete if an individual believed the touching was sexual in nature, but it did not involve his or her genitals, buttocks or private parts.”

Anyone with information should call 911 or contact the Chapel Hill Police Department at 919-968-2760 (8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday). Callers who wish to remain anonymous can call Chapel Hill-Carrboro-UNC Crimestoppers at 919-942-7515 or visit https://chapelhillcrimestoppers.com/
