It was standing room only for the annual Community Carol Sing at the former Manns Chapel Methodist Church. An old-time string band music ensemble, conducted by the indefatigable Jack Herrick (above, left) of the Red Clay Ramblers, led the rousing community sing.

Organizer Terry  Hamlett said she couldn’t remember exactly how many years the sing-along has been held, but it’s been at least 14 years. The old church on Poythress Road in northern Chatham County recently has been lovingly restored and converted into a wedding venue and studio called The Parlour at Manns Chapel. The owners donated the space for the community event.
