The Local Reporter Wins National Grant

The Local Reporter has received its first award from a national organization that funds journalism. The Newsmatch Award from the Institute for Nonprofit News is a partial match for money raised during TLR’s fundraising drive in December. The award is important because it will help TLR pay for more comprehensive local reporting and because it shows that TLR has gained recognition at the national level. We owe this success to our readers and supporters and will try to build on this accomplishment as we seek more funding from national organizations. However, TLR continues to depend on its readers for most of its support, particularly sustainers, so please give generously to help TLR continue to report the news about our community.
