For the second time in the month of January, the Town of Chapel Hill’s elected council was forced to cancel one of its public meetings.
After being forced to cancel its Saturday, Jan. 11 budget retreat following snowfall on the evening of Jan. 10, a large storm that brought snow throughout much of the southeastern and central parts of North Carolina on January 21 forced the Council to cancel its work session on the evening of Wednesday, January 22.
There were only two agenda items scheduled to be discussed on the evening of Jan. 22. Lance Norris, Director of Chapel Hill’s Public Works Department, and Chris Roberts, Manager of Infrastructure and Engineering for the Public Works Department, were scheduled to be joined by Public Works Community Education Coordinator Sammy Bauer to give town leaders an update on the implementation of the Flood Storage Projects component of Chapel Hill’s Stormwater Master Plan.
In addition, council was scheduled to get another update on Chapel Hill’s proposed Land Use Management Ordinance (LUMO), which is going undergoing an extensive revision the town has dubbed as, ‘Rewriting Our Rules.’ Tas Lagoo, Principal Planner in the Chapel Hill Planning Department, has been handling the majority of LUMO-related discussions with the Town Council in its work sessions and meetings over the past year.
The items scheduled to be discussed on Jan. 22 will now be moved to the Council’s Jan. 29 Work Session agenda.
