Two teens reported missing for the second time in days

Update (6/4/2024 10pm): Karina Westerlund and Yaneth Castro have been safely located.

CHAPEL HILL – Two teenagers are reported missing, according to a press release from the Chapel Hill Police. These are the same teens who were reported missing and found last week.

Karina Westerlund, 14, of Carrboro, was last seen around 8 p.m. Saturday in the area of West Franklin Street and Church Street. Westerlund is 5 feet, 4 inches tall and was last seen wearing a green top, a black sweatshirt, and black pants.

Aliayah Yaneth Castro, 15, of Chapel Hill, was last seen around 7 p.m. Saturday, in the area of Weaver Dairy Road near Kingston Drive. Castro is about 4 feet, 10 inches tall and weighs about 100 pounds.

The teenagers aren’t believed to be in danger. Police believe the pair may be together.
